Role Overview

As the first technical hire, the Senior Software Architect / Founding Engineer will play a pivotal role in shaping our technology vision and architecture. You will work closely with the founders to turn our vision into a robust, scalable product, laying the groundwork for future development. This role is critical in establishing our engineering culture and best practices. It offers a unique opportunity to drive all technical efforts and potentially grow into a technology leadership position (e.g., CTO) as the company scales.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement the overall architecture of the core product from scratch, ensuring a scalable and maintainable system.
• Write, review, and optimise high-quality code across the full stack (frontend, backend, and infrastructure).
• Make strategic decisions on the technology stack, tools, and system design in line with the product vision and business goals.
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices for coding, testing, CI/CD, and security.
• Work closely with the founders and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Ensure the platform is robust, high-performance, and secure, capable of scaling with increasing demand.
• Mentor future engineers and help recruit and build the engineering team as the company grows.
• Take full ownership of the product development lifecycle from initial prototyping and MVP to launch, iteration, and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, plus 7+ years of software development experience with a track record of building successful products.
• Proven experience designing and implementing complex, scalable systems or platforms from the ground up.
• Strong programming skills in modern languages and frameworks (e.g., Python, Go, Rust, C#, C++) and hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). 
• Knowledge and experience in latest AI/ML concepts and libraries.
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code. Committed to writing clean, secure, and maintainable code.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects or teams with a high sense of ownership and accountability for results.
• Adaptable, self-driven, and comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment. Excellent problem-solving skills and creativity in overcoming challenges.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a founding engineer or early-stage startup team member.
• Familiarity with our target industry or domain and related technologies.
• Expertise in modern front-end frameworks in addition to back-end proficiency.
• Exposure to AI/ML technologies or large-scale data processing.
• Contributions to open-source projects or tech communities.
• Fluency in English is a must.
